4 Months: Pool Time, Baptism and Food from a Spoon!

Kate has had lots of firsts these past few weeks.  On the weekend before last, we all headed to Houma for Kate's baptism.  It was a wonderful weekend spent with family and friends.  I absolutely love weekends like that, especially now that Kate is here.  I love watching how absolutely loved she is.  It is a special feeling to know that she has been born into such a wonderful family and we couldn't be more blessed!

During our weekend, Kate had her first dip in the pool!!  I believe it was quite an underwhelming experience for our serious little girl, haha!  She even went underwater three times!  Her face rarely changed as she soaked everything in.  I believe we may have a shy one on our hands!  But, regardless of how she was feeling, Kate's excited audience enjoyed the experience much more than she seemed to :)  Kate's feet even turned wrinkly from the pool water as we tried to coerce those smiles out of her, but she wouldn't have it!  Once out of the pool and in the comfort of her little tub, Kate splashed and laughed and had a jolly old time with just her Mimsie and Grandma to see!

The next day was Kate's baptism.  Kate wore the gown that Mimi made and that was also worn by her Uncle Brian, Daddy and Aunt Sarah, as well as Barrett, Allee and Piper!  It is absolutely stunning and it was so special to know that our Kate was able to wear it, too!  Kate seemed to really enjoy putting it on and I think her Daddy is starting to see lots of dress up clothes in his future :)  She even had a perfect curly cue on top of her head, just for the occassion!!  (that girl and her hair... first mowhawks, now curly cues... )

Kate was very good in mass, and the baptism was a separate ceremony that took place after mass was over (there were three babies that day).  By this time, Kate decided that she had been good enough and wanted to join Father Josh in his sermon.  It was very cute, and amazingly timely when he got to the exorcism part of the baptism!!  Afterwards, we all enjoyed visiting with each other until it was time to head in our own directions toward home.

We even caught Kate "sitting up" in her changing table... okay, she was holding on to the side... and kinda leaning a little bit, too, but still... this Momma was impressed :)

Kate had her 4 month appointment last week and is weighing in at 13 lbs 7.5 oz and is 24 1/4 inches "tall"... she's still right at that 50% mark, as she has been since she was still in my tummy.  At this appointment we discussed introducing food into Kate's diet.  So, Kate's newest first took place last night when she had rice cereal from a spoon for the very first time!  I think she did a great job and got the idea pretty quickly.  Her only issue was that I was not shoveling that yummy rice mush into her eager little mouth fast enough!!  Of course, we taped the event and it is posted below for your viewing pleasure :)

Each day we learn more and more about our daughter and each day she learns something new.  We have definitely found out that she is a serious little thing, but she also loves to talk in the car, chat about her day and she always smiles for her Daddy!  She makes people she doesn't know very well work for those smiles, and even tries to hide her face when she gets really excited, but she never hesitates to let us know when she is upset.  She always gives me a big smile in the morning, even when she isn't quite ready to wake up, and I enjoy my extra few minutes with her before having to drop her off.  She is just an amazing little thing and everyone was right, I couldn't imagine loving her more!
